Shirley Ann Kidd, 85, of Byesville, passed away Wednesday (August 18, 2021) at her home surrounded by family following a brief illness.
Shirley was born June 12, 1936 in Midvale, Ohio, daughter of the late Courtney and Vellabelle (Young) Vaughn.
Shirley was a 1953 graduate of Sugarcreek High School and a 1957 graduate of the Aultman School of Nursing where she received her Bachelor’s degree. She was an icon in the healthcare industry, where she always strived for excellence. Shirley was well respected in the community. She and her husband Harold owned the former Victorian Inn and Vel Haven nursing homes. She loved being a nurse and taking care of others.
Shirley enjoyed traveling, especially to San Miguel, Mexico. She also enjoyed shopping, spoiling her grandchildren and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Harold Kidd whom she married April 21, 1957; siblings, Robert Vaughn and Jeanie Pickering; and a son in law Marty Proudfoot.
She is survived by three daughters, Velanne (Brian) Winters, Valerie (David) Scurlock and Vanessa Proudfoot; grandchildren, Matthew Scurlock, Breanna (Tim) Pye, Kaleigh (Josh) Martin, Taylour Kidd and Meghann Winters; great grandchildren, Jax and Brady Pye, Brinley Scurlock and Maisey Martin.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Northwood Cemetery.
