Thomas Kennedy Obituary

Thomas L. Kennedy, 58, of Byesville, passed away Wednesday (March 29, 2023) at his home.

He was born September 14, 1964 in Canton, son of the late John Kennedy and Martha (Hammond) Kennedy.

A graduate of Zane State, Tom worked as a case manager at the Cambridge Counseling Center for many years.  Previously, he had worked at Box USA as a shift foreman and also had worked at Cambridge Tool & Die for thirteen years.

Tom was a US Navy veteran, having served from 1982 to 1986 as a boiler tech on the USS Barney (DDG-6).  He earned his GED while in the Navy.

He served on the Board of Guernsey Noble Safety Council from 2000 to 2010.  He coached various baseball teams in the T-Ball and Babe Ruth leagues for ten years.  He was a big fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes.  Tom coordinated the WAWAW Golf League for five years.  In this golf league, Tom and his partner, Mark Baker, earned first place four times!

Tom was proud to be a blood donor during his lifetime.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Kennedy Jr.; his twin brother, Timothy C. Kennedy; his sister, Karen Shaw; his mother-in-law, Patricia Reid; his father-in-law, John R. Reid; his grandpa, Richard Burt; and two uncles, Wib Jerles and Dan Everhart.

Tom is survived by his wife, Jodie (Reid) Kennedy, whom he married February 14, 2000; three sons, Josh (Tida) Kennedy of Columbus, Kyle (Ashley) Kennedy of Cambridge, and Ryan (Ashly) Oliver of Byesville; a brother, Curtis (Karen) Sigman of Hartville; a sister, Mary Kennedy (Tim Davis) of Cambridge; seven grandchildren, Harper, Hunter, Michael, Ezra, Remington, Addisyn, and Jameson; a special aunt, Mary Jane Jerles; his lifelong friend and golf partner, Mark Baker; and many friends & golf buddies.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of Guernsey Inc. for the care provided during Tom’s illness.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at a later date.
