Tom B. Evans, 88, of Byesville passed away Wednesday (December 30, 2020) at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born May 9, 1932 in Byesville and was the son of the late Earl and Wilda (Roberts) Evans.
Tom retired from ODOT as a supervisor after 30 years of service. He was a 1950 graduate of Byesville H.S., and attended Muskingum College. Tom and Eugene Capers were the instigators in starting progress for the Meadowbrook Football Field on Glass Ave.
He loved golfing, and was a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Indians.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gerry (Wade) Evans, whom he married May 16, 1954; three children, Cheri Evans, Scot Evans, and Stacey (Charlie) Bright Jr., all of Byesville; six grandchildren, Jennifer (Rick) Bates Lambert and Julie Griffith of Byesville, Jodi (Brian) Starr of Salesville, Travis Evans of Canton, Beth (Nathan) Mandeville of Columbus, and Samantha Bright of Byesville; seven great grandchildren, Jordan, Tye, Jett, Brody, Kage, Marley and Jake; one great great grandson Alten Tommy Wade Bates.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville with services to follow at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Randy Weaver officiating.
