Walter “Earl” Gossett, 78, of Cambridge, passed away Thursday (December 30, 2021) at O’Bleness Hospital, Athens.
He was born September 20, 1943 in Dayton, TN, son of the late Daniel and Betty (Gordon) Collins.
Earl was an OTR truck driver having worked for Chance Transport, Millersburg for several years. He also worked at the Cambridge and Coshocton Airports. He was Baptist by faith and an Army veteran. He was a Captain in the Civil Air Patrol. He enjoyed flying his plane, bowling, race cars, horseback riding, and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Lawrence Holsky.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nita Ruth (Wolfe) Gossett whom he married May 26, 1978; three sons, Darrell “Joe” Gossett of Cambridge, James R. (Sherry) Kimble of Warsaw, IN and Jimmy (Tiffany) Kimble of New Lexington; four daughters, Beth (John) Saffell of New Lexington, Tresa Fisher of West Lafayette, Jerri (John) Conley and Megan Kimble all of Coshocton; one sister Marcella (Roy) Lowe of Warsaw; granddaughters, Nicole, Amanda, Holly, Jessica, Trista, Kimmi, Becca and Cammarah; grandsons, Johnny S., Billy, Jeff, Johnny C., Lawrence, Dillon, Jared, Kyle, Swade, Dakota, Lane and Zack; several great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville with services to follow at 5:00 p.m. with Pastor Larry Wolfe officiating.
