Zora G. (High) Conroy, oldest daughter of the late Luke P. and Clarissa P. High, died on August 3, 2022 at the age of 91. She was born November 18, 1930.
Zora was a long time resident of Byesville and graduated from Byesville High School in 1948. She married the late William (Bill) H. Conroy Sr. in September, 1948. They usually could be seen anywhere ballroom dancing was happening, especially at the Cambridge VFW. Zora was a Life Member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars of VFW Post 2901.
Growing up in the 1930s and 1940s, she enjoyed various opportunities of employment, beginning as a preteen delivering papers for the Cambridge Daily Jeffersonian, then ushering at the old Luna Theater in Byesville. Caddying - not so much. From 1955 to 1965 she was employed by RCA and worked at NCR beginning in 1965, retiring in 1992.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by brothers, Elmer A. High and William A. High; and a sister, Juanita F. (High) Sayre.
She is survived by a sister, Gloria J. (High) Grace of Marion, Ohio; her brothers, Ronald L. High (Jean) of Cambridge, Ohio and Curtis L. High (Carolyn) of Beavercreek, Ohio; as well as a multitude of nephews and nieces.
A graveside service is planned for Thursday (August 11, 2022) at 11 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, Byesville.
